What is the name of your state? New York

Hello all,

I recently received a letter in the mail notifying me that a business has applied to my township for a variance. I'm quite worried because this person wants to construct a warehouse/garage which is not permitted under the current zoning laws. they also want to store commerical vechicles inside this warehouse/garage and use the variance to store commerical materials inside this warehouse as well as permission to park in the front yard setback. Where do I start in opposing this? I'm quite concerned that I may look outside my living room window and see trucks coming in at all hours hauling these *materials*

Am I entitled to know what materials will be stored, how many vechicles will be parked. Currently there is home on the property which they propose to demolish, build a 2 family home and currently pave over this backyard area (which is currently grass) for this warehouse structure.

A public hearing will be held in a month. What do I need to say and bring to this meetings? Please advise. Many thanks in advance.

Write down all the reasons you object and show up. It wouldn't hurt to rally some of your neighbors to do the same. If enough of your neighbors feel the way you do, it may not hurt to pool some money and hire an attorney to represent your case. If it is shown that there is enough opposition to the variance, it will likely be denied.
