Hello,

I am on OPT and currently work for company X as an independent contractor. My OPT is good till the end of April 2005. My employer (company X) processed my H1B, got approval and the start date is Feb 01 2005.

a) Can I continue to work as independent contractor even during my H1B or I have to become a regular employee of company X

b) If I want to move to company Y, is H1B transfer possible without even working for a while on H1B with company X

c) If I decide to quit my current job with X (on OPT now) even before my H!B begins, then will my OPT still valid till the end of April 2005.

d) If c) is true then can company Y process my H1B while I work for them on OPT. Will I be subjected to quota?

My current employer is asking to sign a contract with a low pay with strict termination and other penalities taking for granted that they processed my H1B and cant move elsewhere. I am working with them on OPT for the past 6 months.

I appreciate your help.
