I reside in Chesapeake Virginia
Question: K-Mart purchased land behind our house(including 2 other people's houses) to build a Super K-Mart. Currenty the land zoning is a mixture of B-1, O&I, R-15 and RE-1. They are currently trying to rezone to B-2.
I believe this is going to have grave implications to our neighborhood(crime, lighting, noise, house devalue, etc.).
I do not believe it will pass the city planning but the city concil may approve it anyway(lots of $$$).
Are there any legal rights that we can exercise?
One thing that we are looking into is whether existing big box stores have built up to existing residential homes.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

V/R,

Kevin

So you want to put a red light to the blue light special?

First of all, you need a large voice. So gather as many residents as you can to protest the zoning change. Then attend the hearings, deliver your petition and and testify in person. Write letters to the City Council people, Mayor etc.
