What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Indiana

I've run up quite a few medical bills this year. My doctor has told me to take specific vitamins, baby aspirin, and fiber additives - all over the counter purchases with no prescriptions. Are these tax deductible? Thank you.

Only things that REQUIRE a prescription (whether you have one or not for the item, with the exception of insulin which is deductible even when obtained without a prescription) are deductible medical expense. Even if you itemize, only the part of medical expenses are deductible that exceed 7.5% of your gross income. For most people, even with some out of pocket medical expense, is a hard limit to reach.
