What is the name of your state? Oklahoma

There is a group called the United States Corps of Chaplains that exists to help military families and to give the proper burial honors to veterans. Since the majority of the members are former military members it is organized in a military hierarchy with ranks and unit assignments made. Is there any portion of the UCMJ that would prevent a member of the armed forces from accepting a rank in this organization that is higher than the rank they hold in the military? There is a question as to whether an enlisted person could be charged with inpersonating an officer if they are assigned as an officer in the USCOC.

Thank you for any advice you can give.

Simple Answer

The military member can join this group without fear of "impersonating an officer". His rank will only be recognized in the organization not in the military.

Feel free to add yourself to the ranks. Literally and figuratively. This is an outside organization and will not affect your active role. Just be sure to keep all coorespondance separate. Do not mix the two or you may run into problems. Remember, the military comes first. If there is any conflict, drop the membership.
