I got an OUI in Ann Arbor,MI and am wondering what to expect. I blew a .18. This is my first offense and have a FL driver's license. I am wondering what to expect as to fine, community service if any, ways around it, I work full-time and go to school full-time so have literally no time to complete community service are judges flexible? I don't know the MI law on OUI's and didn't find it on your list just DUI's.

I'd appreciate any advice.

Thank you for your time.

Updated 1/9 If someone could please reply with any advice...the person who replied lectured me and didn't offer any legal advice. I need to know what to expect...thanks again!

drinking and driving

I am a certified driving instructor in the state of Massacusetts. I hope the laws in your state aren't as severe as ours. With the first offense here of oui you can face 500-5,000 fine a max of 2 1/2 years of jail and a deffinate 1 year license suspension. Be glad you aren't here. If you had the breathalizer test done here, all you had to register was a .08 to be arrested and convicted of oui. Please think twice about doing this again. You are taking your own life and the life of others in your hands. By arresting you they are just keeping the streets safe. You could have wrapped yourself around a telephone pole. If you insist upon drinking at least get a good friend to take over the keys and get you home safely. And a good friend who hasn't been drinking. Good Luck in court. It is a tough thing to fight these days.
