After 4 weeks of negotiating inspection issues on a home we were trying to buy, we told our attorney to terminate the deal on a Wednesday morning. We got no copy of a letter to the seller from her. She finally returned our call on Monday, saying "Uh, yeah, I sent a letter but haven't heard back from the seller's attorney yet." I could tell she was lying about something. Pushed her to send us a copy of the letter she 'sent'. Got it tuesday via e-mail, and according to the Word file, it was created 5 minutes after we spoke on Monday, dated the previous FRIDAY (in a Word doc, go to the File menu, select Preferences and go to Statistics). The sellers apparently put more work ($$) into the house over the previous 5 days and were furious with the delay in notice. We're out of the deal with no loss other than missing out on other houses for 9 days.

Is the fact that our attorney dated a letter 3 days prior to when she actually wrote and mailed it an ethical oops, or a serious legal matter ??
