(fl) i owe a disputed sum of money (less than $2000) on a house sale deal in new york. i have since moved to florida and the buyers just found the lawyers made the mistake. do they have to file for a judgement where i am living here in florida so i can appear to plead my case, or can they obtain one in new york where i would have to travel at considerable expense to plead my case? thanks in advance

They can file on you in New York and have you served in Florida. You can then ask for a Motion to Dismiss due to jurisdiction.... or file a change of venue to Florida (depending on the court it was filed in).
