Hello to who ever is reading this. I am an expecting mother, who just moved back to florida in march. I have been in michigan for the last 5 years. The father of my unborn child lives in michigan for now and will for a while after the baby is born. How do I go about requesting child support, and what are his rights to see her after she is born, but while he is in MI?I'm ok with him flying down to see her, but I refuse to send my newborn to MI, is that something I should have to worry about? Please let me know if you need more info.
Thankyou

I am not an lawyer and any advice i give is only direction, not fact.
As far as your newborn goes, do not worry about flying him-her out there, there is age limitations. The father must sign a paternity acknowledgement before you can get support or if he is unwilling you will need to get dna testing through the courts. The place of the childs legal residence when born, florida if thats where the child will be born, is who has jurisdiction. He has the right to one or more of the following, visitation, joint legal or physical or both custodies, and he has the right to file for full legal or physical custody.
You need to contact your counties child support and enforcement division to initiate child support. Whether you do so or not, he has the right to see the child and he can take you to court to do so. Keep in mind, THE MOST IMPORTAND issue is the childs best interests, and that is what the court will put the most emphasis on. good luck
