My husband was picked up for driving an overdue car rental. Since the bill was paid immediatelly, the charge was changed to the unauthorized use of a vehicle which is a misdemeanor. Since this happened last year, we have found out that his driving record shows "Stolen Auto" on it. Since he really did not steal any thing, can't this entry be removed from his record? or at least be changed to something more appropriate?.

In addition my husband has applied to several jobs where his DMV print out is required and in all cases he has been told "Don't call us, we will call you". Can we do anyhting to rectify this situation?. Thank you

I am a law school graduate. What I offer is mere information, not to be construed as forming an attorney client relationship.

What you will need is called an expungement. If your husband did this mistakenly and has had no previous run ins with the law, it should be a fairly pain free process.

You need to get a criminal defense attorney experienced in misdemeanor expungement.
Try attorneypages.com and start from there.

Hope this helps.
