Her new boyfriend is 67 year old. She's 32. I know that there is nothing inherently wrong with that, but I think it's kinda ooky (for lack of a better word.)
Okay, "ooky"

Starting to get more mom-bashing, tread lightly

You still sound level-headed for a Wicked Step Mother ;)

I personally don't have a problem with it. I lived with someone I wasn't married to, with my daughter after my divorce.

And I don't doubt that it has something to do with the fact that "Trey" has a penis and the girls don't.

Way different than controlling. It’s just dangerous and stupid to move in with someone you’ve known for a short time, especially around kids.

Still backing off was smarter than pushing Mom to troll the sex offender registry for her next beau.
Ya, I know its different, but apparently she doesn't. Every time I offer her a suggestion about anything I'm either a) calling her stupid b) trying to control her or c) calling her a bad mother.

And, I do all the checking of criminal records and the sex offender registry for anyone I know thats going to be around my daughter. Some people have told me that I'm going a little too far, but the way I see it is as long as there is a way to know if the people around her have a criminal history or a history of being a sex offender it is my responsibility to find out.

Sorry, didn't mean to mom bash. Oh, the stories I could tell! But I won't, because you are right, I don't need to bash her.

I try to be level-headed where she is concerned. I don't interfere with her relationship with the kids, although I don't really need to anyways, as she's done a fine job of screwing that up all on her own. (Whoops, was that mom-bashing? :p )

I absolutely do not get in the middle of her and hubby's communication. Don't want the headache or the stress of that.

But I do listen to hubby when he talks about it, and I try to support his position. That's why I posted this. I'm a little more legally versed than he is.

If reasonable people are telling you this, maybe, it is time to dial it down a notch.

It all sounds cool here but maybe others are seeing more.

Well, I don't see how there can be any harm to anyone else if I check a registry (there for this purpose) to make sure my daughter isn't around sex offenders. Really, when it comes to the criminal record, I tend to check that for my own entertainment. See what kind of stupid stuff they did when they were younger. :p

I don't see anything wrong with checking the sex offender registry. If hubby finds out mom's new boyfriend's name, I'm sure he will check, too. You just never know.

About once a month, I check our local sex offender registry. I'm glad I do, too. Not long ago, I checked it and found out that a sex offender convicted in Texas of raping a 13 year old girl had moved in next door.

We were able to have the sheriff force him to move though. We live less than 1000 feet from an elementary school. :)
