How do the overtime rules apply in a week with a holiday. I am told that you must work 40 hours not including holiday hours to be concidered to be into overtime.

The law requires that overtime only be paid after an employee has worked 40 hours. An employer has no obligation to include vacation pay, holiday pay, sick pay, etc. when calculating overtime.
