Hello all,

first off, Happy Holidays!! I am a new member here and wanted to see if I could get a bit of advice. I fractured my left heel while doing a fitness run (mandatory) for work. The injury soon left me with needing to get surgery as there was a cyst inside the heel bone, and upon enterring my foot for surgery, the podiatrist noticed I also had haglunds deformity (kind of like a bone spur), as well as a large amount of scar tissue. Needless to say, he needed to remove the achilles tendon completely from my heel, scrape off the scar tissue, grind down the Haglund spur, pack the bone chips where the cyst was...and away I went. After filing with the DOL for a work related injury, and having the doctor state in numerous letters to the DOL, my claim was denied.
I let the matter go, and did not appeal as I was entitled to simply due to my Agency making up their own Light Duty rules, for those not 100% healthy for the job. I also went LWOP(leave without pay), for 2.5 weeks, and basically gave up on the DOL, and was just happy to be getting a pay check.
Well, I have had nothing but discomfert, pain, loss of mobility and plantar fasciitis like you wouldnt believe.
I have been talking with a co worker and he put me in touch with a labor lawyer who thinks i may be way beyond compensation from the DOL.
Does anyone here have any sound advice for a positive outcome? thanks again
jon
