What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? PA

When discussing garnished wages, there is a amount for the judgement and an amount for additional court and legal fees (filings, serving notice etc etc). Those additional fees are not known at time of the judgement, however responsibility of the defendant.

What happens if the employer will only garnish wages for the legal judgement and will not consider the additional costs incurred? Is there a process to have the judgement adjusted for additional court fees so the employer will include fees in the garnishment?

Thank you.

Pennsylvania restricts wage garnishments to only specific items, things like court costs and fees are not one of the items that can be garnished. You will have to find another avenue to collect that part of your judgment.

judgments for child or spousal support
obligations relating to final divorce distribution
PHEAA student loans
back rent on a residential lease
as restitution for criminal matters
for certain types of taxes

Wages cannot be garnished for any other purpose.

Perhaps there would be less confusion if you could keep all your questions about the same situation in ONE THREAD.
