I was wondering if it is state law to paint a house whenever there is new tenants??

No there is no actual law, but if it is painted it would rent faster and you could probably get$25-50 a month in rent more because it looks like you care about your property..

Ignore, Rentertoooooo.....No, most states don't have this type of law. This is a "Tenant Urban Myth" that was probably started when federally subsidized properties were required to be re-painted every 5 years - whether they need to be or not. This edict went by the wayside over 15 years ago and has grown and expanded to be thought to be applicable to the private rental industry.

VA is a "caveat emptor" state with a wonder Landlord-Tenant law; however, many landlords can option of the law and deal with tenants under the English Common Law rules and the lease agreement RULES!!!
