Re:Newspaper article, with no byline...presumed written by their 'police beat' reporter? Slanderous?
Article reports minor traffic accident, but negatively portrays 1 driver.

That 'unnamed witness' was the ONLY witness that portrayed this driver this way. Several OTHER witnesses agreed with This Driver that other person was at fault. POLICE even agreed with This Driver that other person was at fault AND Police DID NOT ticket This Driver (the 1 portrayed negatively).

?Beat reporter or whomever, did not contact the Driver that they were 'slandering' and ask for their side of the story.

Question is: where do they allegedly get their info from? None of the negative comments he/she reported are mentioned anywhere in the police report that This Driver received.

Can anything be done about this seemingly unfair reporting? Anyone know what can be done?

Coincidentally the OTHER PARTY (whom officer said was at fault, is now pursuing suit against This Driver--who remember, was not ticketed)

This OTHER PARTY also wrote a letter to the editor that miraculously was printed the very next day after the accident. (When typically in our town it normally takes several days)

We are left wondering if the OTHER PARTY has an 'in' at the paper and is trying to prejudice potential jurors

This is a question you need to ask the newspaper.

You can file a complaint with the newspaper. As for libel, not unless you can show intent.
