I need help finding a legal assisstant in sryacuse New York. I live in Florida and my mother-in-law lives in New York. She is having a dispute with the person who built her home and they have a court date coming up real soon. She recently fired her attorney due to several reasons and now every attorney she has contacted has wanted atleast $25,000 to assisst her. All she really needs is someone with legal knowledge to guide her thru the proper procedures. She is willing to pay but $25,000 is too much. I was hoping that maybe someone could point me in the direction of a good law student or paralegal. Any assisstance would be great. Thank you.

Sounds like you need a lawyer, paralegals can't practice law. If your Mom is a senior, can she get a referral from organizations like Catholic Charities? Also, what about networking through her church, neighbors, etc. There should be a lawyer who would take her case on a fair basis. Also, in that state does the builder have to be licensed? If so you could file a complaint with that entity.
