What is the name of your state? Connecticut

Quick question, I am a paramedic from Connecticut. I have the sole responsibility of responding to the surrounding 19 towns and need to have the volunteer departments in my area have complete confidence in me and my decisions. The other night we attended a meeting in the central city of my area. It went well, there was no ill will, I showed up as a representative of the hospital where I work. It was productive and everyone seemed to part as co-workers towards a common goal. Everyone returned to their respective towns. Today I hear from one of the volunteer firefighters that, that particular department's representitive returned to his department that night and proceeded to trash me. I do not believe he left an expletive out while describing me to his fellow group of about 8 firefighters. He went on and on about how I was a F'in "spy" for one of the departments and about how my work and performance was basically S___. I'm concerned for the simple reason that this "gentleman" completely underminded the established confidence that this particular FD had in me. I was approached today while at my gym by a firfighter of this department. He expressed concern and basically stated he was "blown away" by what this guy was saying. I immediately returned home and contacted the departments chief. I informed him that if in fact this was true, HE STATED IT WAS, that I was concerned how this would effect us working together........what do you think?

I think you need to tell the members of this Fire Department to make their own decisions based on your performance and the working relationship you've built and then get on with your life.

You have stated no grounds for a suit against the rep for slander and/or libel. So what if he thinks you're an idiot? I bet he isn't the first and won't be the last.

Get over it.

You provide a service to many people that appreciate you. Ask them what they think. Jealousy and self-loathing is usually the reason one attacks anothers character. By the way he said it behind your back. That is the act of a coward. Hiding the fact that he couldn't say it to your face, or give you a venue to respond while the people he was trashing you to were there.

And what does any of that have to do with the legal aspects of the poster's question?
