What is the name of your state? New Jersey
We are a group of parents whos children have continually been
been discriminated against by one individual involved in little league
baseball. As the new season approaches this individual is again
a coach in the league. We are requesting that the board of the league
of which he is a member prohibit him from selecting any of our children
in the preseason draft. We have prepared a letter to the board and were curious as to the legal position it puts us in.There are 12 people in this group
and we have overwelming evidence of this mans actions. We feel it is a simple request. thank you for any input you can provide. To THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS. Dear sir as parents with children participating in the league
we request that the board prohibit------- from selecting our children in
the upcoming draft.----------has caused the boys emotional distress and has shown predjudice and discrimination in the past and we as parents will not expose ou sons to this type of treatment again. The End Any comments or help would be greatly appreciated

What type of evidence do you have against this person as far as an intangible pratice such as discrimination.

Playing the devils advocate here. But is it possible the children have been skipped over becuase of a lack of skills suited for the game?
Personally I think all should play regardless but some coaches are extrememly competetive due to lack of childhood involvement in sports. I have seen this happen more than once. Little league coach thinks he is coaching the the Yankees.

So fill us in.

Evidence

Actually its quite the opposite all of these boys are accomplished players
who play a.a.u. travel baseball as well. The person in question is a board member of a travel league the boys once played in.He had an argument with a coach on the boys team that became quite heated. The argument was over a rules infraction. When the team tried to enroll in the league for the fall season they were thrown out and the reason given was our coach was out of control. This in our opinion was not the case, but even if it was true
why wouldnt the coach be suspended and not the boys.Since that time
none of these boys have been selected for the little league tournament
team and most if not all have more ability then the children selected.Of
course this same man manages the tournament team in little league. We
certainely feel he is prejudice toward them and has shown it

Ok then with the possibility it was an over-reactive parent out of the way.

Now you need to gather your evidence and take it to the board. Show them your evidence and state plainly that if it is not handled internally you will take it to the local papers. Having the entire county agaisnt them probably isnt going to set well and may light a fire under thier butts.
If nothing is done send them a certified letter that you will be starting proceedings agaisnt them if there are no changes made within the next week from the recipt of the letter.
(adjust for thier meeting times of course)

Then if nothing is still done make good on the letter. Hire a lawyer and start proceedings. If you have proof of the discrimination then you will be good to go.
