I live in NY, I had a hearing today, I was given a ticket for parking in a handicapped spot infront of ToysR'Us but I didn't, I was right next to a handicapped spot. As I looked for the reason why the officer would give me such a ticket I found the remains of what use to be part of the handicapped section. The lines in the floor where white, there was no signs at all just the remains of a faded blue line, about 2 feet, and a faded wheelchair image on the ground. I believe this confused the parking officer in giving me the ticket. I took pictures and showed the images to the judge (who seemed to be in bad mood because I hadn't heard her call me to come in to her office and she had to get up and get me from the hall, that is besides the point), but she didn't really look at the evidence, she told me that I couldn't prove that I was parked there, I told her that I wouldn't lie. I can't believe she would think that I was lying. Why would I go through the trouble of taking pictures and showing the remains of what use to be a handicapped spot? there is no way I can prove that I was parked at that exact location but the ticket doesn't give specifics either. doesn't my oath to tell the truth count? I am so disappointed, can't believe the judge wouldn't give me the benefit of the doubt. I am thinking of appealing because I am not guilty and feel the judge didn't really listen to my case and was stuck on me proving that I parked at that exact location, any advice on what I can do or say? I asked the judge and she responded with "I am not your lawyer". What do you recommend when something like this happens to someone? Should I appeal?

Also I went into ToysR'Us to complain but they told me they were not in charge of the parking, the manager told me she also had gotten a ticket before for that same reason and that it was revoked because the officer had written the wrong address for the store. The manager told me she knew of other people that went through the same thing. I tried to get a hold of the people in charge of the parking but they are on vacation. My boyfriend was with me that day, but I didn't submit a statement from him nor that manager because I thought the pictures would be enough. Do you think submitting info from them would help in my appeal?

The officer is assumed to be an unbiased agent, while it is presumed that you, along with your boyfriend, hold a bias in the case, so while I suppose it can't hurt to have a statement from your boyfriend, I don't really see it helping very much.
