What is the name of your state? - NC

Do I have to pay parking ticket if I was a visitor from out of state? Both were my faults with some "excuse"...

1. Fiday after Thanksgiving meeter expired in Cleveland downtown Mall- .. came to find out that two buildings were connected underground and could not find my way out on time at the right exit. My letter explaning this was rejected by Violation Bureau of Cleveland.
2. Washington DC Mall - parking sign behind me was bent face down toward the ground by an accident and did not see parking hour restriction betweem 4-6PM. Sign visible ahead only displayed parking zone no restriction. Meter had money in it. They are asking $100.

Many thanks.

I heard someone say that if you get a ticket in another state you can get away without paying it as long as you don't pulled over again in that state (hence the cop seeing a ticket not paid).

They said other states including your own won't have a record of you getting that ticket.

Is this true???

What would make you think you can simply ignore them?

You acknowledge fault, with extenuating circumstances. Fine. Set up a court date, and explain the circumstances to the judge. Maybe he'll dismiss them. Maybe he'll cut the fine in half simply for walking into his court room.

If you just ignore them, they will eventually come back to bite you. I guarantee it.

Some states yes, some states no. Do you really want to risk finding out the hard way... ie, getting arrested on a 10 year old Failure to Appear warrant?

They will pop up the next time you're stopped in that state.

The rental company paid it. And it's still in their records. If you rent from them again, they will add the ticket fine to the credit card charge. Several large rental agencies do it all the time.

Others file for damages in small claims court in their home office jurisdiction, or hire collection agencies to go after you.

Do you really want that on your credit report?
