I write as a father and a former Bay County Florida.(Panama City)resident.
We left Panama City in July of 1996. Shortly before that, my son, Sonny J. Arnold was jailed ,after having an accident while drinking, which was a violation of his probation conditions. He was jailed and spent quite a while in Bay & Jackson County jails. The State of NM decided to extradite Sonny, back to NM. NM was state his original offense. At his last hearing in Panama City, he was told by his caseworker not to return to the state of Florida. He was told an in-state warrant would be in effect, to make sure he didn’t return. We don’t have any of the paper work he was given at the hearing.
He was picked-up and returned to NM. He served about 2.5 yrs. and was released, with no mention of having to return to Florida as a condition of parole. As far as we knew, he had no further requirements, other than paying off his fines there. We called the Panama City court after he returned home (Abilene, TX.) to find out about his fines and drivers license, and nothing was said about probation or having to return to Florida.
Since his return, he has done very well. We have seen that he has changed and matured. About 3 months ago he got the job of his dreams. He is working at a local Golf Club here and was about to enter into training, as an assistant professional golfer. I say was, because Monday the 25 of Oct., as he was applying for a Texas ID, he was arrested. There was apparently a warrant for his arrest by the state of Florida. We called Panama City and found out that the warrant was issued in June because he didn't show up there after released on Dec. 2, 1999. He is back in Bay county Jail. We need help and advice.
Respectfully,
Danny Arnold
