Back in the late 90's, a company I owned stock in (Safety Kleen) was yanked from the stock exchange due to deceptive accounting practices. Shortly after this, I received a form to sign in order to be included in a class action suit. I submitted it to the legal firm promptly, but have never heard a single word from them. Since 2000, I have periodically contacted the firm in writing and by email, but have gotten no response. I learned later than SK went bakrupt and was reorganizing. I was told by other attorneys that the bankruptcy made a suit unlikely; so I have not done any followup research until recently. My recent onlinre searches have revealed that a class action suit took place in the spring of 2005 and that SK was to set aside a large sum of money from which to pay stockholders. If this is the case, shouldn't I have been notified? How do I know if and when I am to receive payment? Could there be more than one class action suit? I am confused because I have not heard word one from the attorneys since I asked to be part of the suit. My investment was less than $1000, but receiving any portion of it back would be a victory. Would appreciate any feedback on how I should proceed.

Where did you read the information about the Safety Kleen lawsuit? It should have given some details in the story about the court where it was held, what city/state and the law firm handling it. Do a Google search to see if you can find any details that way.

Is it possible you had a change of address where the law firm could have sent you something in the mail and they were unable to reach you? Also, certain requirements must be met before a person can be approved as a claimant, but the requirements should have been told to you by the law firm. The settlement probably gives priority to creditors who were owed more than you were, but you still need to look into this to see if you can still get paid.

Not sure if there has been more than one class action for Safety-Kleen, but here is the most recent one I have been able to find which ended in June 2006. You may want to call or write to:
