What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? california
My brother and I have a share of a vacant lot in California with my aunt. we want to sell and she does not. She will not buy us out either. I have had the Partion action process explained to me and I believe I understand it. I have two questions. I have been told that the statute is absolute. Is this true? I would also like to know what the ultimate court costs would be to see if it would be worth my while. I believe I know what the real estate commissions and costs would be. What are the approximate court and administrative costs on a partition action should I prevail?

Thank you

**A: I have seen partition costs from $5K to over $50K and take 2 to 5 years.

Wow.. I just happened to post my first question (about heir property and deeds), but this partition thread caught my eye since we may be facing that, too. The amount of both time and money to partition land has me worried.

Good luck to us both!
