i am from ohio and my question is about a payment for apartment repairs. when we moved in my roomate filled out a paper stating any problems in the apartment. i never saw the paper but apparently he was not careful about how specific he was. they are now charging us a lot of money for minor things that were there when we got there. we did not put them on the sheet, so i told the company that i would pay if they showed me sign in and out sheet from the past years. i wanted to show that they are charging us for things that they have probably already charged others for. the woman said that this is none of my business and that i can not see these forms. can someone please tell me if i am correct in thinking that this is a fair request. thank you to everyone that tries to help.

This is what court is for...I think a judge would ask the same questions, and if they dont have proof...well a judge wont make you pay for them...

So dont pay for them.....let them sue you and in your reply you claim the landlord is trying to defraud the tenants by double charging for repairs, and that you have been willing to pay for all charges upon proof that other tenants were not charged for them and that they actually paid money out of their pockets...(cancelled checks to a licensed bonded company). NOT to the landlord's bruddah in law!
