What is the name of your state? Washington State
Collection agency served a summons to respond in 20 days. Friend failed to respond. It is now about 35 days! I looked on line for the court date and found no date. What happens to the case? Will he get a notice of any such court date?
I did type him a letter to give to the Collection agency asking to validate the debt. Should a copy be file with the courthouse as well? Or is this letter a simple waste of time now?
Any help would be appreciated!

There is no court date listed in any of the summons or complaint letters they filed with the courts. Do they normally have a court date for these things? Please help!

If your friend didn't file an Answer in the time specified, then the Plaintiff will simply file a Motion for Summary Judgment - and win the judgment. Its quite likely your friend already has a judgment against him/her !! Call the courthouse on Monday morning and ask.

Your friend had best watch his/her bank accounts, that's usually the first thing they go after and seize.
