In Oklahoma, if my ex has asked me to terminate my parental rights, how do I do that, and if I do that, what does that do to the child support that I now pay?

i think that, but i am not sure though, but if you sign over your rights of your child, (not sure why any parent would want to do that, of course there are circumstances out there that do warrant so) it is permanent and you never see that child again. EVER! obviously you would not pay any cs. think long and hard before you just give up your child.

CS still has to be paid

If you give up your parental rights, you still have to pay child support. If you did not want to do this, then you could come up with an agreement with the mother. I am not sure though.

This is a very flexible issue the laws on this one vary from state to state certain states want child support regaurdless others will allow a settlement of some sort and still others will allow you to just sign away.this issue is a heartfelt one i had a friend that did it and everyday of her life she regrets it she even considered it for a year the benefits and the negatives, biggest negative is she is forever heart broken .If you have ever lost a child it is similar to that.Except every day you will live with the fact your child is there you just can not be there with her /him.please think it over and be serious when you do are there benefits for the child think ahead i do not want this to be a mistake you made, one you cannot reverse!

DIFFERENT IMPRESSION

I am going through this same situation right now. I am the Biological father and the stepfather wants to adopt my son. I am ok with the idea.

From all of the forms I have read the Step parent would now assume FINANCIAL responsibility over my son which means I no longer have to pay child support.

This form is called Termination of parental rights and Adoption by Step parent.

So I strongly believe there would be no more child support.

here is what I found on the subject

Stepparent Adoption

Sometimes a parent will consent to adoption by a stepparent. A stepparent adoption relieves the natural parent of a child support obligation. A stepparent can adopt a child without the natural parent's consent in certain circumstances. For example, if the biological parent has had no contact with the child for a specific length of time and that parent cannot be found despite exhaustive efforts to locate him or her, then a stepparent can adopt the child without consent from the natural parent.
