Patient rights if no health insurance

What is the name of your state? Nebraska

I have a question. What rights do I have as a prospective
hospital patient if I have no health insurance. Are they required
to treat me and/or my family or are they allowed to turn me
away without medical treatment just because I have no health
or medical insurance. In other words, what is the law on this?

It depends on what kind of hospital you go to. A public hospital is required to do what is neccesary to stabilize a patient without insurance so that the patient can obtain any required care. Private hospitals are only required to treat uninsured patients with life threatening injuries or illness. And only enough so the patient can be transfered to a public facility. They can and will turn away those without life threatening injuries and illnesses.

I appreciate the information. Should my premiums ever rise to a point
where I could not afford them, it is good to know that hospitals
have to try to keep me alive at least. Now if I could figure out
a way to keep the premiums down.......
