What is the name of your state? ohio
Can my employer lower my pay without prior notice?
I recieved my current check and notice that my comission rate was lowered or my pay scale was changed, but I was never notified about this prior to this week.

Whether prior notice is required and if so how much notice is needed is a state specific issue, and offhand I don't know about Ohio. The state DOL will be able to tell you if no one here knows Ohio law (Patty?).

Even if such a law exists, however, that would only mean that you need to be paid the higher rate until the time you were notified, not that it cannot be lowered at all.

That doesn't surprise me. As you know, Ohio is one of those states with very few wage and hour laws of its own.
