What is the name of your state? NC
Hello, I am looking to see what can be done about a company I work part time for. The company has been bouncing Payroll checks for the past 4 months. They were paying them out of petty cash. The company was reciently bought out and they will no longer refund us the amount of the check they owe anyone if it bounced, since the company that bounced the check no longer owes the resteraunt presently. I have proof of numerous checks they bounced in the past and am presently holding one that bounced that they will not honor any more. As well as the company is currently holding my W-2 form. I have tried to send then a self addressed envelope to get it back with no luck. Today is April 15th and still dont have my W-2s, causing me to file a extention until I finally recieve it. Is there anything I can do?

Yikes. Call your State's Department of Labor and see what they advise.

It's likely the new owners have no liability for the debts of the former owners, which is why they aren't honoring the bad checks issued to you before they took over.
