When I moved in there was oil in the oil tank....My landlady said that I owed for that tank of oil...I did not think it was fair but agreed to it...when I went to her office to pick up the lease and pay the rest of monies I owed her she then handed me a handwritten bill for the oil that was already in the tank plus a previous bill for the tank before that????? Do I have to pay it?? I feel that I do not as I did not live here and they had to heat the place to keep the pipes from freezing......Need advice fast as she has given me til the 26th to pay up or I will be getting evicted due to lack of payment....Living in Pa....

What does your lease say about who pays for the oil?

You must send a certified letter return reciept, stating that you agree to pay for the oil in the tank when presented with a legitimate oil bill from a legitime oil company you can call and verify the amount of oil and the cost per gallon, the landlord CANNOT make a profit on the oil, that is Illegal!

Then state the landlord also agrees since i have to pay for the oil that is in the tank, no money will be deducted from my securty deposit for oil when you vacate.
