Paying Off Debt...Now What Do I Do???

What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? Michigan

I was previously working with a debt management program to clear up my debts. Due to some problems that I was having with the program, I quit, and decided to pay off each debt, one at a time.

Well - next month will be a final payment for one of the debts, and it will be paid off completely.

Now I am just wondering what I have to ask them for, to prove that the debt is paid off. Is there some kind of a letter that they can send to me?

And if so - do I have to do anything with this letter - like take it down to the credit bureau near my home, so they can update my credit report to show that the debts were paid?

I don't know how all of this works.

Any replies are appreciated!
Thanks,
- Kari :)

Ask them for a letter stating the account is satisfied and then you should forward a COPY of that letter to
Experian PO Box 2104 Allen TX 75013
Equifax, PO Box 740241 Atlanta, GA 30374
TransUnion, PO Boc 2000 Chester, PA 19022

Mail this with a copy of your license and make sure your SSN is listed on the letter too, so that they can post the payment to your credit file.

Trust me, I am going thru the same thing presently and I would not rely on the creditor to update for a while - it's faster to take care of business yourself!

Good luck,
angela
