What is the name of your state?

I am in NC.

I have a bill with a medical facility for an MRI in March 07. THe bill was submitted to insurance. About two months later, they determined that my insurance would not pay due to the deductible not having been met. I was asked to pay the bill.

I have made eight (monthly)payments of $50, which they accepted. I have never missed a payment. Now I have received a call from a collection agency telling me that the facility cannot finance my debt any longer and I need to pay the balance in full. I received no calls or letters from the facility telling me there was any problem, just straight to collections after making regular monthly payments.

What is my recourse?
Thank you

Pay the bill. Medical facilities just cannot carry your debt on their books, you're lucky they took payments for as long as 8 months, usually they won't go even that far. Besides, $50/month is a pretty paltry sum and the medical facility simply cannot wait years to get paid.

In every medical facility and every doctors office, there is clear and prominent notification that YOU are responsible for the bill, they file claims as a COURTESY. If your insurance doesn't pay, YOU have to.
