:(What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NY

Okay. After 13-14 years, (I fell in 1983, had a lawyer who eventually passed the case onto another firm that could handle the job, and then experienced constant, persistent, lengthy delays by the City) the City of NY has stopped its egregious delays and meanderings and have agreed to a settlement amount (7/2008). I made a decision in 1996 to apply for bankruptcy, but because of a debt that could not be dissolved, a trustee was assigned. I was advised that if I won for a certain amount, I would have to repay my creditors. Fast forward today, I have prevailed in my case, but there is now an issue regarding the creditors. The bankruptcy lawyer cannot speak to me (I am not naive and my perception about the trustee is that though he "represents my interests," he has never met me nor has he done anything for my benefit; he is a trustee for the creditors.) I want to know if at the time of bankruptcy did the "clock" stop the interest? The persistent court approved delays by the city has perhaps cost me more than simple repayment of debt. I may not get a settlement for my personal use if the creditors are allowed to seek not only the principal and interest at the time of the dissolution, but also seek and add on the future interest up to the date of the court's recent decision. Am I correct? I ask because my attorney has to wait on the trustee to approach the BC for approval or something like this. I truly feel like my pain and suffering was for others rather than to cover the cost of any future medical expenses (which I will need). I hate being in the dark.

Wow, 13 years! Unbeleivable.

You should probably post this in the bankrupcty thread, as it has more to do with that and less with PI.
