I am located in New York and the buyer is in Canada.

So I sold 2 items on paypal and now the customer filed a claim and is trying to charge back. I sent the products, he received it but as many people do he charged back to get it for free. Value of the items is $500
I closed my paypal account since the buyer threatened me on instagram to charge back if I don't send him another item so I closed my paypal account right after I withdrew the money from the transaction because I thought that would prevent the chargeback.
My question is, if paypal sides with the buyer and they send debt collectors after me, do I have to pay that debt or will it negatively impact my credit score?

I'm asking because I've read mixed answers to this. Several people said that debt collectors can only harass you to pay the debt but can't legally enforce anything and if I do get contacted by one that I should ask "Who do I owe this debt to?", "What is the debt for?" among several other questions and that they will back off because they can't take me to court due to insufficient evidence.

Will debt collectors come after me for $500 and if they do can I just ignore them?

What is the name of your state? New York

You owe the debt to Paypal per your contractual obligations. Whoever has told you otherwise is a moron.
