What is the name of your state? ca
Can someone help me...a friend of mine sent this to me today....

Okay help me out here - is there a law about payroll? Remember I told you how my co-worker calls in to Paychex hours but she only works Tues, Wed, & Thursdays so she calls i nonone of those days that is closest to 1st or 16th? Well for her she ison salary so it doesn't matter. But like for me on hourly it is messed. See like today she asked me for my hourr and I put down thru tomorrow (Friday 4/28 - last working day of the pay period..right?) then she said oh, you put down tomorrow's hours, we don't do it that way here - So she only calculated thru today. My question to you is now when my paycheck comes it will say pay period 4/16 - 4/30/6 = so is that legal to do it? I want to talk to my boss about it but I want to have my facts first...help!

The fact that you wrote at the top that your friend sent it to you does not mean that it is not confusing.

You are not going to get the answers you would like to hear if no one can understand the situation.
If YOU can't clarify it, you might want to ask your friend to do so.

is the WHOLE STORY NOT THERE??? whatever, someone with some sense will answer the question, not people with too much time on their hands!

Well, you just lost any change you might have had of having me try to sort it out.

If the whole story was there, do you think we'd be telling you that we needed clarification?

the post clearly states, the payroll person does payroll according to how she sees fit, no definite pay schedule, but yet and still, such as now, her check stub on the 1st will say she was paid through the 30th of APRIL, but she is not letting her put down the hours she will work tomorrow because she is calling it in today.....I didn't think it was that hard to understand, but really, if you don't help, someone else will...I am not worried about it, I simply asked a question and got nothing but rude and silly responses. Thanks though!

Go there and then scroll down to section 204

It speaks to pay periods and such. It's confusing to me, but so is your question, so reading it isn't going to do me any good.
Maybe since you think your post is complete and someone should be able to decipher it, you can find the answer(s) you are looking for in the labor code of California. Then if you find a requirement you believe is not being followed, you could post a specific quesiton

PS - You catch more flies with honey or whatever the saying really is :)

I'll try to answer you, but the other posters are right. Your original post is very convuluted and hard to understand.

If the payroll period is 4-1 thru 4-15, then the paycheck, regardless of the payday, should include all hours worked between those 2 dates, regardless of when the payroll is processed, or "called in" as you put it. Your friend should talk to someone higher up to try and get a clear understanding of what the payperiods are and be sure of it, and if there is still an issue, she can take it up with a higher level manager.

And that's true, even if a day or two has to be estimated. And up until about the 3rd post from the end of this thread, I had no idea what the issue was either.
