What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?Indiana
This is the first time that this has happened. There will be some pending medical insurance claims as of Dec. 31. Which year will these charges be applied to--the year of the date of service or the year in which the actual charges are paid?

If I understand the support guidelines correctly the amounts would be applied to 2010 medical expenses because that is when they will actually be paid. Does anyone know if I am right or wrong? Thanks.

I'd think they would be applied to the date of service, not payment - that would be 2009.

However, neither one of us could claim this as medical expense for 2009 tax purposes. So for all legal purposes it does not become an expense until it is actually paid. Is there a separate set of rules for determining the annual healthcare obligation in regards to child support?
