What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Iowa

My pension investment fund, along with a thousand co-workers, is in the hands of Principle Financial group, which seems to be in dire straights.
Can this Corporation seize all of these pension funds before going under ?
I don't trust a corporate response.
Could you steer me to a contact to verify my rights and protection, if any ?

I don't know where the idea that Principal is in "dire straits" come from. It is guiding for weaker operating earnings in 2010, but still expects to be profitable.

Any 401K or defined benefit pension assets do not belong to Principal and are custodied separately.
