My son has a learning disability but can do almost any job put before him. He learns through watching and talking, but can't pass the written type tests for job applications. I have proof from the school he graduated from about the learning disabilities. Does a company have to follow those guidelines?

No. They do not have to follow the guidelines that his school followed.

However, according to the ADA, they must make reasonable accomodations for his disability. "Reasonable" is open to interpretation and its meaning has been the subject of many lawsuits. The question is whether the job requires the applicant to have written skills as an integral part of the position.
