What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? NJ

Hello,

My wife and I are US permanent residents and we have 4 month old daughter who is US citizen. Mother is going to travel abroad for a month. Are child's US passport and mother's green card plus foreign passport enough to leave US? I have heard that my notarized statement saying that I do not object this travel might be necessary – is that true?

I assume that returning should not be an issue.

Thanks in advance,

John

John,
Many countries will require that Mother carry proof that you know where the child is and that you OK it.
Why not start here: http://travel.state.gov/family/family_1732.html and look for info on what kind of letter Mother can carry with her on the trip.

Hi,

Thank you for reply.

My question was just about US regulations. I know foreign country's (Lithuania) regulations and they don't require additional documents for sure - I have official response from their embassy in US.

Will US border control require any additional documents? I was not able to find the answer in http://travel.state.gov.

Thanks,

John

Yes your wife will have to have a notarized letter were you give her permission to travel with the child outside of the US
