What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? PA
Hello, every spring & summer, my neighbors run a farmstand. In addition, they fix lawnmowers, tractors, snowblowers, chainsaws etc... They have been doing this seasonally for over 20 years. The neighbors, me included, love them and rely on them because their produce is excellent and dirt cheap and they go out of their way to help the neighborhood.
In October, the Zoning officer stated they can no longer run their stand because they don't have a permit. They are now upset and frantic with trying to comply as it has actually grown. (People rely on them and will stop by even when there stand is closed!)
My question is, can the township do this after 20 + years? This isn't a full time job, it's just a way to earn extra money. As a resident and someone who isn't impacted by this action, I think it corrupt of the township Zoning officer to pull this now after all this time.
I just want to know if they do have a right to do this at anytime or if after a period of time, they can't. I will be attending the zoning meeting this week and want to come prepared. I do intend to support my neighbors, but will be asking why they waited 20 years to force a permit. This to me seems like more of a liability.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Nina
