I quit on a first day at work. As per payroll and company policies, I need to submit my SS# in order for them to release pay for the day. Is this necessary? Can I insist on payment without giving away my personal info for a day of work? If so, what can I tell them?

Thank you so much!

How do they pay the ss withholding as well as their share of the ss tax to the ss office if they don't have your ss number?

what can I tell them? "Here is the information you requested which I now realize you are entitled to by law" will do just fine.
