that is what i am thinking. the title company started a whole new process of looking up my name. out here, after you open up escrow, the first thing that happens is escrow gets title to issue what is called a preliminary title search, which includes all sorts of easements, etc. as well as liens by other people, if they are there. including govt stuff, like property tax. and utility bills, if there.
after loan docs were signed and returned, title started a whole new title search based on my name, and found several. pretty much the same thing that one gets from a credit report
