6 months after my husband passed away, my step-son asked to borrow $10,000 to purchase a truck for a business he was starting. We had a verbal agreement that he would pay the money back when I purchased another home which was planned for May/June of 2000. When the time came, he said he would get the money to me. When I had not received it by August 2000, I contacted him again and he said he was in the process of selling one of the trucks and would remit the money as soon as it sold. I told him he had until Oct. 2000. I have not received the money nor can I get him to respond to my calls. Although, I do not have a written agreement, I do have witnesses (several family/friends from both sides) that I loaned him this money. Am I able to sue for repayment? Also, what would my legal grounds be if this was an investment?
