I live in Wisconsin. I had someone living here in my home for many years and no signed lease. He was recently under police investigation. My house was raided and he left the premises with belongings that day. He came back for some possessions but has not returned for the rest of his personal possessions. I did tell him verbally in front of witnesses that I wanted his things out by 2-17-01 or a call. I don't know where he has moved nor a phone number. I need to know how to handle his personal possessions. Can I just post an article in the newspaper as I have seen or try sending the certified letter to where I think he works. And, if so, how long a time frame or do I have to go through the sherriff's dept. If he does not pick up his possessions do I have to give to a charity organization or do I hold a rummage? Not sure how to legally handle this.
