What is the name of your state? Minnesota
I would like to request a copy of my personnel records from my previous employer, which is a public school, can I just send a request in writing?
Also, I have asked several times for something in writing simply stating my employment start and ending dates. The only response I received was a copy of my contract of what I would get paid for the last year I worked there. Any help??  :(

Minnesota reg's state that employers must provide employees with the opportunity to "review" their personnel records. I suggest you call or write requesting a copy of your file; if they are not inclined to do that, then contact them again to schedule a time when you can review your file in-person.
