I had written permission from a hotel in Laughlin, Nevada dated Jan. 1999 and another dated April 2000 ... to bring my pet caged bird to the hotel whenever I visited.

Last week my son, daughter-in-law and myself drove the 200 miles from California to Nevada. I had both the letters with me. We checked into the hotel, paid with credit card and then I produced the letters about the bird. The desk clerk had to get approval from her supervisor but assured us it would be ok.

The supervisor came out and instead of a pleasant greeting or smile, she asked me why I would bring a bird to a hotel. This was in front of strangers all standing in line behind us. It was very embarrassing - but I explained about my husband dying and how I travelled with my pet bird. I also showed her the 2 letters written by the Marketing Director of the hotel.

She stood there and argued with us for over an hour. I am on medication and felt like I was going to have a stroke. She refused to back down and said no pets were allowed. Finally she had another woman come out who was very gracious. She told us to go ahead and take the bird the back way to avoid security and she would talk to the director in the morning. He had already gone home for the day.

I never heard another thing about it. Needless to say, the mini vacation I so looked forward to turned out to be a nightmare. I was physically sick over having to argue in front of so many people. Can this hotel be held responsible for their actions? I never was so embarrassed or humiliated in my life.
