What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Indiana

When my son was 15 he got in trouble for having tobacco and served 20 hours of comunity service and had to write a 2 page paper about the harm of tobacco. He has never been in any other trouble.

He is 4 months away from 18th birthday and last week a Sheriff served me papers saying my son was alledged to be a delinquent child by commiting the offence of Visiting a Common Nuisance.
The papers say on January 22, 2010 he did knowingly visit a vehicle while in Bourbon, IN. (a town close to where we live) that is used by a person to unlawfully use a controlled substance.
The papers also included a questionaire that asks me all kinds of personal questions, like my age, weight, date of birth, place of birth, SSN, where do I work and how much money do I make, do I drink and if so, how much do I drink, how often and for how long do I leave my 17 year old son home alone. It says I must answer all questions pursuant to I.C. 31-34-18-3

I showed this to a friend at work, who has some legal schooling, and she wrote me a paper to file with the court (Motion for Discovery) asking for information about who is accusing my son of this crime. She also said I should not answer the questions on the questionaire.
Today I got a call from the courthouse saying that they do not have to provide me with this information because my son is a juvenile. And the woman said if I did not answer the questions on the questoinaire and turn it in by this next Monday I would be arrested for contempt of court.
This is all scheduled to go to court on Aug. 2, 2010.

Also, my son told one of his friends about all this. That boys mother came over a couple days ago and she told me that about a month ago she got the exact same paperwork. She filled out the questionaire and a week later she got a letter from the court saying the charges were being dropped.

Any suggestions?

Apparently your son is either under formal investigation for or is being prosecuted for involvement with drugs.

You, yourself are receiving material from the court that questions your fitness as a parent as part of an investigation.

Get a lawyer for your son and yourself.
