What are the laws regarding a petition? We have a petition on our street for a traffic circle that was temporarily put in last year to slow down traffic, and if 60% of the people on the street sign it, they will redo the circle with landscaping and such and make it permanant. We have the 60% signed, but some people want to start a petition to take it out and say that people can change thier minds. Once you sign a petition, can you change your mind, and if so, when is it too late?

Thanks

Petitions do not carry the force of law. They are only a way for a group of individuals to express to their Government how they feel on an issue. People are allowed to change their minds. It will be up to the governing body to decide how to proceed.
