I'm not sure if my question falls within this forum, but please help. two days ago I had an appointment with my doctor, who adjusted my medication (methadone). He increased my dosage, however, when I took it to the pharmacy, the pharmacist said my insurance wouldn't pay for it until the 19th. He said my doctor said I should have enough til then. I told the pharmacist that I would pay cash for the prescription, and asked for the script back. he said no, that I have to come back on the 19th. I didn't feel like going over why my doctor wrote my script for that day, there were other people standing around and I was embarrassed. so I just said ok, and left. now that I think about it, what are my rights? can that pharmacist just keep my script? I don't want to do business there anymore so don't I have the right to go to another pharmacy? Do I have to call my doctor to ask for another one because the pharmacist took the original one? I feel no stupid, I can guarantee this guy thinks I'm trying something dishonest, but my doctor know what he's doing, or he wouldn't have wrote it. Waht should I do. Thanks from Mi. :)

The 19th is in 2 days, Continue to take the Rx as ordered and pick up the new on on the 19, otherwise it will look like you are drug seeking. These Rx are highly regulated.

You can call your doctor and have him call the pharmacists and explain why you need it now. The pharmacist can keep your prescription if he thinks you are up to no good. You don't have to get a new prescription from your doctor, just wait until the 19th and you can pick it up then. If you no longer wish to do business with that pharmacy you can have that prescription transfered to another pharmacy but they most likely will not fill it before insurance covers it either.
